Rachel Malde

Dusk, Unsettled.

The lines point east and west

They are deliberate; they mark the sun and its path.

As we travel up the road that crosses the eastern continental divide,

we feel heavy.

Those lines remind us.

People have traveled here. People have lived here.

There have been sacrifices. Joy. Birth. Death.

And the air is full of their struggle.

The sun sinks, the air slows.

The dusk settles in, and disturbs the noise with its quietness.
